Amelia’s Story.
This is my darling Niece Amelia, when my sister Rebecca fell pregnant I was so excited to know she was going to be born, about 8 months into the pregnancy Rebecca was told that there was problems with Amelia, The doctors said she probably wouldn’t survive and would be still born,Amelia was born with a very rare syndrome have it called Situs inversus (also called situs transversus or oppositus) is a congenital condition in which the major visceral organs are reversed or mirrored from their normal positions.
She was also born with Emphysema in her lungs, which was not caused by anything her mother or father did they are both non-smokers, it has since been clearing up,
Also she had Cysts in her body which was just pure bad luck, one that was in her throat that had be removed because it stopped her from breathing, 2 are left in her body,
Amelia has had loads of operations and she’s my brave little niece and has always been so special to me and I will always love her,
This little girl has healed so much and is a very smart young lady,
She has had a total of 7 operations in the first year of her life,
Now she is 3 1/2 and going great she is truly a miracle baby to go threw so much and come out with a smile on her beautiful face,
She has a long scar down her chest (her chest is now inverted) but can be corrected with plastic surgery, she has 4 under her arms, 1 on her throat, but it doesn’t make her any less beautiful.
She has come a long way, she’s a very strong girl, she still has roads to over come but I have faith in her that she’ll make it.
Sadly Amelia might not be able to have children, As the doctors have said, I hope she proves them wrong like she has so many times before x
